"This is Not Amazing"
I have made an effort to make sure that Shelby reaps some of the benefits of my time off . I have been testing my "Stay at mom skills," by arranging craft projects for her. I have been saving toilet paper rolls and decided that they could make fun stamps. Shelby jumped right in with enthusiasm (like she always does) and then confessed, "This is not amazing. It's just confusing that I am painting with toilet paper." Ha! Point taken. I did not have much of a rebuttal to that one :)

2 Months New
My sweet baby girl is two months old. Amazing how 2 months pregnant feels like a lifetime and two months with this sweetie, just races right by! Boy do we love this little sweetheart.
I took her to her two month check up. She is tracking like a super star:
Height: 24 inches - 98%
Weight: 13 pounds, 1 ounce - 90%
Head: ??? cm - 86%
Here is a pic from the doctor's office. Little did she know, she was about to get a slew of immunizations. Overall, she did great with the shots, but I could tell she felt a little bum for a good 24 hours.
As you can see, she is a happy little sweetie. In the last month she has started to smile and coo like nuts. Really....is there a cuter sound than a baby coo? I don't think so! She has also become very interested in Shelby. The other day Sienna was crying in her bouncy seat and Shelby came over to talk to her. Almost instantly, Sienna calmed down. It was wonderful.
I love this little Nugget so much. I have three more weeks with her, before I go to work and she heads off to school with Shelby. She still nurses like a champ. Oddly, she does not have much of a routine, other than a nap in the morning that varies in length from one hour to three hours. If she is up a lot during the day, then she can sleep through the night. If she naps a lot in the day, then she only goes 4 to 6 hours before waking up. She loves the lights, outdoors and her binky. She has recently been trying to use me as a binky too, but I am trying to put the stop on that. Holy smokes!

Good Choice Chart!
Shelby's recent Good Choice Chart was extra special - it came on the heels of Sienna's arrival. It's no secret that she, like many other kiddos, struggled with a new addition in the house. With that, we added lots of squares to make sure that we could give her lots of rewards! She would get a sticker for good behavior at school and then one for doing a good job at bedtime....aka, staying in bed and not coming out with a bevvy of excuses.
Her prize? She wanted a Rapunzel dress. We gave her the movie Tangled for Christmas and it has since become the hot movie in our household. I threw in the wig as an extra bonus....mostly for me because I thought it would be cute. Congrats my Shelby Pie!

Daddy-Daughter Dance
Lifetime Fitness hosted an adorable Daddy-Daughter dance. Jack told Shelby he had a very special surprise for her, and special it was! They both got dolled up (corsage and all!) and set off to the party. Shelby had her nails and make up done, and even came home with some new princess gloves and a crown. When they returned, two hours later, Shelby was beaming from ear to ear. Love these two!

Gummy Smiles!!
Sienna has really turned on the charm lately and now smiles and coos up a storm when played with. The best part? Her one smile creates three more in our household. I love the story of the last picture below,,,,Shelby loves Sienna's smiles so much that she was trying to take a picture of them too :)

Park Date - Mom Fail
Given that I have some flexibility in my schedule, I try to pick Shelby up a little bit early most days and then do a fun activity with her several days a week. My friend told me about a new park with tons of ducks, so I thought I would give it a whirl. Well, things did not turn out as planned....
As promised, there were tons of hungry ducks. In fact, they were so hungry that one waddled right up to Shelby and grabbed some bread out of her little hand when she was not looking. In the process, the duck bit Shelby's finger. Oh the scream! Poor thing was scared and hurting. The nip was not too bad, but it did break the skin. I imagine she will now be scared of ducks for years to come. #momfail
After Shelby gifted her remaining bread to other park-goers, we had a "picnic" in the (ahem, wet!) grass. Needless to say, things did not exactly go to plan, but a memory none the less!

Valentine's Day Weekend
The Schenk family had an awesome Valentine's Day/Presidents weekend. I dare say that we got a taste of the good life. By being home during the week, I can chip away at the work that typically must be saved for the weekend. Also, Jack does not presently have any major projects in the works and overall, has been getting home from work earlier. All that, leaves for much more free time and relaxation...yes, even with a newborn in the mix!
Saturday was full of activity, a rose bouquet delivery and a steak dinner. On Sunday, we opened gifts in the morning and went sledding in the afternoon. It was Shelby's first time in the snow and we all had a GREAT time. We had the perfect parking spot, so we opened up the hatch and one of us could watch, while the other played and then we switched...Sienna slept the WHOLE time!
Jack had to work on Monday, so I had both the girls, but it was great! I kept Shelby very busy. We went to an indoor playground, a 'coffee date' and then to the park. Sienna is a total trooper and was sweet the whole time. I am one lucky Mama!

Now This is Love
If you read this blog, you know Shelby LOVES her Annamol. It is by far her favorite toy and has never slept a night without it. One morning Sienna was tired and fussy so Shelby said she would let Sienna snuggle with her Annamol and Annamol's blanket. Now that is some sisterly love.
...and don't mind Shelby - she is licking the lid the whip cream :)
