4 Year Check Up

Shelby had her 4 year check up on the same day that Sienna had her 4 month check up.....so I took the day off work and also got my hair highlighted! I took Shelby in the morning and we spent about two hours together.

The four year check up was a big one. They tested her blood (with a finger prick!), her eyes, her urine and of course, she received multiple shots. These shots were extra sad though because she knew what was happening. Fortunately, she doe not have to get more shots until she is 11.

All in all, Shelby is a wonderful, thriving, healthy 4 year old. As anticipated, she was very curious about the process and had LOTS of questions for the doctor (this will serve her well later in life). Her vision test revealed 20-40 vision, so she will be coming with me to my next eye exam at the end of May...sorry Shelby; hat one is probably mom's fault...

Weight: 40 lbs - 82%
 

4 Month Check Up

We took Sienna in for her 4 month check up and Sienna is growing like a ummmmm watermelon - big and juicy. I just could not say "weed" because weeds are troublesome and we typically remove them:)

Height: 26.5 inches -- 99%
Weight: 16.5 lbs -- 87%
Head: 16.5 inches - 84%

She is staying on schedule with her shots. We were off schedule with Shelby and it was quite a hassle. She eats about 70% breast milk and 30% formula.  I do not think my milk ever fully recovered after the pharmacy gave me the wrong prescription.

At the appt, I expressed concern about the flat spot on her head. As I mentioned it, he said "I was going to talk to you about that." We were referred to an orthopedic specialist to have it checked out. All babies get flat spots, but Sienna's is a bit more pronounced and on the side - which is worse than the back because it can affect the ear and the symmetry of her face.

All and all, this chuck of love is amazing! Chatty, happy and healthy. We could not ask for more!

The Birthday Girl Holding Court

Shelby was very excited about having a "pizza party" at her school on her birthday. Several other kids have done it this year and Shelby was excited for it the entire week leading up to it. The entire lunch "hour" at her school is about 35 minutes,so Jack and I both hauled over there to the school to make it for the big event. As you can see, Shelby was quite excited about her big day......as were all the other kiddos. We love you birthday girl!

My Beautiful 4 Year Old

Shelby's birthday was exceptionally fun this year. She understood what it meant, looked forward to the occasion and expressed joy and excitement all along the way. In addition to the pizza party at her school, we had dinner of her choice, cake and gifts at home. What did she pick for dinner? "Masagna" and garlic bread. I decided to save a few bucks and make a cake at home, but it was all the same to her. She was extra excited about her new scooter and her Baby Alive doll that eats and poops. When her baby's diaper is full, she says "Stinkarooooo," which has since become the new catch phrase in our house.

If I had to use a handful of words to describe my beautiful baby girl, I would say spunky, observant, engaged and joyful. With pregnancy and Sienna's arrival, I feel like Shelby really grew up quickly. I looked the other way for just a moment and then she became a big girl. In the past, I had the luxury of observing and cherishing every little milestone, but that has been tough for the last few months. One of Shelby's greatest qualities is her curiosity. EVERY time she hears something that she is not familiar with, she will ask either "What does that mean?" or "what you are guys talking about?" It's wonderful. Even more impressive, she will then try to apply what she learned.She is a big girl, but also so little. I love when she still says things like "mascusting"  (instead of disgusting) "resposed to" (instead of supposed to) and "lellow."

Thanks for making me a mom Shelby. You are our sunshine girl and we love you to the moon and BACK!

4 Months!

My baby girl is already 4 months. Full of smiles, coos and today she found her toes! She loves her thumb, her sister and mama's milk. She has started to drool and chomp on all that she can find! Her sleep varies, but in general she goes down around 7:30 p.m., wakes up around 8a.m and wakes up a few times in between. We love you Sienna Noelle!

Visit From Uncle Moosey

My brother Alex, aka Moose, aka Uncle Moosey was wonderful and made a trip out to see us....or should I say the girls. Shelby was SO EXCITED and Moose was a great sport. I heard, "Moosey Moosey Moosey" all weekend long! It was very special to share my little gals with such a special guy. We love you Uncle Moosey!!

T is For Tennis

I enrolled Shelby is a little Tennis program run by the City of Henderson. I think she is more excited about her outfits and equiptment than the actual class, but it's still fun. As tall as she is for her age, she looks like a peanut in her class. The age range is 3-7 and she looks tiny in there, especially next to some of the older, husky boys. I am proud of her for trying something new though!!

Happy 70th Birthday Larry!

We had the pleasure of celebrating Larry's 70th birthday all together. Jack grilled some ah-mazzzzzing steaks and I managed to find a diabetic bakery with all sugar free desserts! Anita had Larry's friends and family from all over the country send birthday cards to our house, so he was greeted with a GIANT stack of suprise cards on his bithday. I think he was touched. A great memory for all!
