Pledge of Allegiance

Shelby has learned so much at her new school. She is a very auditory learner, so she picks up a lot of the material that they recite, sing, etc.  This is an impressive, yet not-so-focused, delivery of the Pledge of Allegiance.  

"Make My Bed Funny Grandma"

During my mom's (helpful and amazing!!) stay, she would often make Shelby's bed during the day. Over the weeks, my mom would put Shelby's stuffed animals in various positions and Shelby found it very entertaining.  I really enjoyed watching the two of them work out the perfect arrangement and giggling all the while. Sometimes the toys would be reading books, snuggling, etc. After school Shelby would race upstairs to see what Grandma did. There were a few days that the bed did not get made and you better believe that my mom was called out for it. This was Grandma's grand finale bed. What a treasured memory!

Being Big Sister

The first three questions I get these days are....How is the baby? Are you getting any sleep? And how is Shelby doing? The first two are easy to answer, but the last question is a little more complicated. Shelby is ok....not great, but not bad. She has good days and bad days. She LOVES "Sissy" and takes immense pride in being a Big Sister. She wants to change diapers, hold her, help with her binky and races to Sienna's side at the first sign of unrest. She is not, however so keen on me and sometimes forgets all about her "listening ears." It is nothing for me to have to ask her to do something five times nowadays before I gain her attention.

Am I worried? No. Does it break my heart? Yes. I was so sensitive to this before Sienna's arrival. It is no surprise that she does best with an abundance of attention and things to work toward, but it certainly adds some extra stress. One thing that has improved a GREAT deal in the last four weeks is bed time. She is (mostly) going down without a fight and it allowing us to close her door. She knows that her Sissy's cries at night will wake her up. All that said, I am so proud of my sweet Shelby Pie and reassure her day in, and day out that I have plenty of love for both she and her little sister.

Behind the Scenes!

I had Sienna's newborn photos taken when she was two weeks old. I should get the images back any day now. I have full confidence that the entire gallery will be amazing. The photographer allowed me to snap  a few "behind the scenes" images. Can't wait to see the real deal!

Fast and Furious!

One of Jack's amazing clients gave Shelby the ultimate Christmas gift - her first car! This thing is impressive. Lights, sounds, a revving engine, reverse, the works! It was SO COLD right after Christmas, so for a few days we had to just drive it around the kitchen island, but eventually Shelby was able to take it out on the open road....errrrr parking lot. She had a ball and I have to say, she does a pretty good job driving it. She already knows the concepts of a three point turn!

Daddy's Right Hand Gal

We are revamping our living room to give it a lighter look; the stone wall was step one of that process. We purchased a new coffee table (with storage!), but Jack is resurfacing it. He invited his handy helped to get involved. She loves projects with Dad!
